No-Till in Kazakhstan: there is potential!

For the first time after a long break, Agro-Soyuz held No-till training in Kazakhstan. The seminar “Transfer to No-till: how to reduce costs and increase efficiency” was held on November 29 and was very successful.

We announced the seminar about six months prior to the due date in Social Media. We received a lot of responses both positive and negative, e.g. zero-till is not interesting for Kazakhstan farmers, the soils are not suitable, etc. But we know that this technology works all over the world. Moreover, previously there were several projects on no-till adoption in Kazakhstan. Thus, it’s not about the technology, it’s about the mindset!
As a result, more than 40 farmers were present at the seminar in Nur-Sultan (both new comers and those who had some experience with No-Till). They were eagerly listening to every bit of information that our experts (Elena Dudkina and Eduard Romankov) presented. They were interested in almost everything: the smallest details of the technology, how to save on inputs, moisture conservation, soil health improvement, crop rotation issues, introduction of cover crops, etc.
The seminar was so interesting and the topics were so relevant that it lasted 12 hours instead of 8 that were scheduled.
One-day seminar is not enough! The interest to this technology is huge. We received several requests for individual trainings on various farms of Kazakhstan as well as requests to supply our resource-saving machinery. This means that No-Till has huge potential in Kazakhstan!
